Finally we get the unique part of this particular car. The power house. Here is how this 429 Super cobra Jet engine arrived to us from the engine builder. As you can see we had a lot of work ahead of us to make this engine complete. We tracked down all the parts unique to this engine. These included the smog equipment, which for Torinos in this year was only on the super cobra jet because the regular cobra jet engines used a quadrajet carburetor which met the emission standards. The super cobra jet was topped with a holley carburetor so Ford added the thermactor system to these. We also located the power steering system, correct thermostat housing, fan, fan spacer, the correct chocke tubes needed for the holley carburator, correct hoses and lines, and many other part were procured to complete this engine to original specifications.

The next group of photos show that we have been busy attaching sheet metal back on to this car. We also attached the tail light housing after it was refurbished. Some of the trim has been put on as well. You can see that paint has been buffed out for the first time. We are almost starting to see signs of a car again.

These next pictures that the seats have been re-upholstered and the carpet has been installed. We are getting ready to do thing final installation of the interior trim.

These photos show that we have made some more progress in the engine bay. The oil cooler has been attached and the lines have been as well in their properly routed locations. The valve covers are off to be polished out in order to have the correct appearance when we are done. The front end sheet metal is starting to be re-attached. The wiring has been gone through and cleaned and ready for initial testing.
