This is how the Boss 302 looked when we received it. It looks very good in pictures but, it was in serious need of a professional paint job. We will give this car a concourse paint job and align all the sheet metal properly.
The following photos show that the Boss has been detrimed and just needs to by striped down. Next the body work will take place. This Boss 302 had numerous waves throughout the body. I very curious to see how the previous person did the prep work because it certainly looks as though they were in a big hurry to get paint layed down.
Here are some more exterior photos before we start body work.
The following pictures show some of the extensive body work we had to do on this car. The previous restorers either didn't work with these cars much or got extremely lazy in their work. The gaps were all off. The hood was completely mudded up from a previous repair attempt. The work was so poor that the hood lines were "recreated and had curves in them. Instead of working the metal first they just plastered this car with body filler and tried to line it up the best they could. when this techinique is implemented the same thing always happens, the lines are terrible and the paint suffers greatly. We went through and stripped everything down and did the body work how a restorer would do it. Right the first time. This is going to look like a different car when we are finished with it. This is a prime example of why you should not take your restoration to a collision shop.
